TST 3RD MONOLOGUE SLAM!

The 3rd TST Monologue Slam is an industry competition open to actors from all backgrounds. Up to 15 actors are given the opportunity to perform in front of an audience and a panel of judges with the goal of moving their careers forward. One slam champ is selected among the participants, and will receive industry exposure and perks such as a headshot and coaching session. The entry is fee $20.

 

Judges:

Judges include Casting Directors Patrick Baca, Phaedra Harris, and Emmy Award-Winning Kevin Scott.

Format:

The program will begin with a “BAR SETTING PERFORMANCE” followed by 3 Rounds with each judge giving each contestant a score using a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being the highest) along with feedback.

 

1st Round – Every contestant performs 

2nd Round – The top five scoring performers compete in this round

3rd Round – The top two scoring performers (scores are cumulative) compete

 

*SLAM CHAMP is determined by highest total number of points accumulated through all three rounds. At the end, all the performers will come on stage and Audience Applause will determine the winner of the AUDIENCE AWARD.

Rules:

  • Monologue must be at least 1 minute and no longer than 90 seconds (you will be stopped).

  • Must have a different monologue for each round.

  • Disrespect towards judges or audience will be grounds for immediate disqualification.

  • Stacking the audience is encouraged.

BIOGRAPHY

Casting Director Patrick Baca, CSA, is partnered with Shana Landsburg, CSA and together they cast feature films, television, short films and theatre. His recent film credits include E.M.T. starring Tom Everett Scott, Charles Shaugnessy, Denis O’Hare, Interior Night starring Riley Smith, Erinn Hayes, Micah Hauptman, A Christmas Melody directed by Mariah Carey for Hallmark, The Adventure Club starring Billy Zane, Offer and Compromise, MoonTrap: Target Earth, Eat With Me, Taken Away, The Little Rascals Save the Day, Sunken City and Atlas Shrugged II. His favorite TV assignments include the Kelsey Grammer directed NBC Sitcom Pilot “Alligator Point” starring Cybil Shepherd and Leslie Jordan, Comedy Central’s pilot and series Strip Mall starring Julie Brown and the TV movie of the long-running NBC series L.A. Law. Patrick began his career at 18 as an actor in commercials and later starred in the Academy Award nominated movie Stand and Deliver opposite Edward James Olmos, Andy Garcia and Lou Diamond Phillips. While attending UCLA, he worked as an assistant and trainee to a Talent Agent for three years. He later went on to operate his own management firm for actors -- an enterprise he continued for nine years, prior to his career shift into casting. He has developed, helped launch, coached or hired many young careers, including Jaimie Alexander, Seann William Scott, Taylor Kinney, Natalie Martinez, Amy Acker, Christina Milian, Tanner Stine and Ashley Green. Patrick is a five time CSA Artios Award nominee for his work in casting. In 2011, he won the Talent Manager Association’s Feature Film Casting Director of the Year Award. He has moderated industry panel discussions on Pilot Season Casting at various venues including SAG, AFTRA, IMTA, NPT LA and IPAA. He teaches script and character analysis for adult and youth performers in Los Angeles and around the country.
