2016 TST Company News

Seth Austin and fellow TSTer, Ian Stanley, worked on the upcoming independent feature, The Meanest Man in Texas. The film will appear in major festivals everywhere next year. In early 2017, he'll also be on television with a guest starring role in Battle of the Sexes on Lifetime Movie Network.

Deonte' Bolden just completed filming his first full length feature film When Pride Comes Before The Fall, that he wrote and directed, to be released in 2017. He wrapped Season 3 of his award-nominated series, The Price Of Fame, and had a lead role in the play Holidaze. He is working on his second web series Wicked.

Wil Bowers appeared in the remount of Towne Street's In Response, the Hollywood Fringe Festival production of the new musical Charming, and in the premiere production of Blueprint For Paradise at The Hudson Mainstage. He also had roles on Days Of Our Lives, the Comedy Central hit Broad City, the CW Seed's upcoming film Beerfest, as well as a currently running Chase Bank commercial, and an upcoming Ford commercial.

Advisory Board Chair Deborah Charles's book, My Walks With Bentley, will be coming out at the beginning of the year. It will be on Amazon either under the title, or author D.C. Charles.

Samantha Clay began a new production company called Loud Noises, Inc and one of their shorts got over 10,000 views!

Kenny Cooper had a role on CBS's Life In Pieces; has appeared in commercials for Dunkin Donuts, Sense Sleep Monitor, and California Association of Realtors; and was featured in a print campaign for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

Ken Cosby's 10-minute play Hello? was selected to be a part of the A Light In Dark Places Festival, which was presented as part of Suicide Prevention Week. His 10-minute play Keep Your Head Up, Skip, was selected as part of the 1st Annual Hollywood Short + Sweet Festival. He was chosen to be a part of Playground LA, a playwrights reading series.

 

He taught his COMEDY STYLEZ: PHASE #1 stand up comedy class at TST with a wonderful showcase that happened at the end of October, and he performed as a stand up comedian as part of the List Of Demands Comedy Festival which raised funds for several different charities.

Following the limited engagement of PassingSOLO, Nancy Cheryll Davis was invited to bring her solo show to the University of Duisberg in Essen, Germany in November. While there, she also gave lectures on the Incarnations of Passing, her journey of the book to the play, and on the History of the Towne Street Theatre at the University of Dortmund, Bochum University and University of Duisberg.

Sarah Genevieve Green is in rehearsals for her performance as Miss Marple in Agatha Christie's A Murder Is Announced, adapted by Leslie Darbon for the Long Beach Playhouse. The show opens January 14, 2017 and runs through February 11, 2017. Visit the the Long Beach Playhouse website.

Starina Johnson's play, Border Towns, was accepted to Open Theatre Project's SLAM Boston series. Her show, Airport Encounters, which she produced for NEO Ensemble Theatre, had a sold out run.

 

She was involved in a sold out Hollywood Fringe show called Complex[ion] Woman, which also won a Fringe Encore Award. A portion of the proceeds went to Black Women for Wellness.

Mark V. Jones has been apart of Playground LA since July 2016, had a stage reading of two of his pieces, Jury Duty and Yesterday's War with NESONA reading series at the MOments Playhouse on December 14, 2016, and was cast in a short film to begin shooting in February 2017.

In 2016, Jackie Marriott performed her very first stand up comedy routine at Towne Street Theatre's Stand-Up Stylez event and was also the winner of TST's 3rd Annual Monologue Slam competition. She performed in TST's second run of In Response at Stella Adler Theater, to rave reviews, and completed episodes of Mix, which will run in 2017.

Barbara White Morgan's play 1969 received a Friday Night Footlights staged reading at the Mary Rodgers Room in New York City. The play was produced by TST in 2014.

Jaimyon Parker appeared in a Super Bowl commercial; Bounce TV's In The CUT; the film The American King; the webseries CoupletsWhat If A Woman, and Ladies Single Group; and the plays A Soldier's PlayFerguson, and Everything In Between. He also produced, directed, and performed in the Opening Performance of the 2016 NAACP Theatre Awards.

RCB did a national tour with the Los Angeles Poverty Department and a YouTube video for the project, What Fuels Development.

In addition to directing PassingSOLO and co-directing IN RESPONSENancy Renee was a panelist on a theatre panel about diversity for the C. Bernard Jackson Inner City Cultural Center 50th Anniversary Celebration in November.

Daniel Stafford performed in the play 3 Sisters and also Ferguson: The Musical, an adaptation of 12 Angry Men. He was also in Love & Consequences, an official selection for the 2016 Miami Web Film Festival.

Lamar Usher graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelors of Art in Theatre, co-starred in a Tosh.0 Comedy Central skit, was on PAWG Unit, a and has a role in the brand new TV series, Snowfall, produced by John Singleton for the FX network. He also landed a supporting role in the Netflix original feature film, Take the 10.

Charlotte Williams played Beneatha to stellar reviews in Raisin in the Sun at the Ruskin Group Theatre, booked a fast food commercial, and starred in the Columbia College film, Chunky Tuna.

Adrian Zeigler will perform his one person show, Lenox, in January at the Prominence Treatment Center and also during Domestic Violence Awareness month in April 2017. Check out his Kickstarter campaign. He also spoke at Shepherd's Door Domestic Violence Resource Center and at the Prominence Treatment Center in December.
