24 GUN CONTROL PLAYS

Towne Street Theatre is proud to take part in this important national dialogue. The "24 Gun Control Plays," a collection of short plays from NoPassport Press: Dreaming the Americas Series, will be performed by various theatre companies throughout the United States during the week of May 27, 2013.
In January 2013, NoPassport Theatre Alliance and Press (Caridad Svich, founder) in collaboration with Theatre J, force/collision and Twinbiz, put out a call for new writing about gun control.
Over 100 submissions came from playwrights, poets and theatre-makers of all regard with vibrant and important reactions to the recent events in Newton, Aurora. (Web site: nopassport.org)

In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we're revisiting one of our most acclaimed productions. "Joleta" was performed in 2001 and 2002 and won Best Local Playwright and was nominated for Best Ensemble. Four daughters' long-simmering suspicions about their paternity come to a boil with the homecoming of their paroled uncle. In the ensuing quagmire of fidelity, skin color, ethics and passion, lives are riddled by the wiles of a conniving ex-wife.
